The Loch Lomond Quilt Show was born out of a dream of three ordinary quilters to use their love of quilting to highlight the wonderful work of the quilters’ of Scotland, to bring exciting exhibitions to Scotland and to celebrate Scottish textile heritage.
Isabel, Patricia and Ruth stared sewing together 12 years ago, and have been meeting regularly on Wednesdays as Makepeace Quilters ever since. The three quilters were hugely inspired by the Carrefour du Patchwork that takes place in Alsace each September.
Patricia worked for over 18 months to get the local churches to agree to be used as exhibition spaces. Isabel took responsibility for all the admin and paperwork. Ruth talked a lot! And it must have been to the right people because after two years of very hard work by all three the first Loch Lomond Quilt show took place in 2005 – the rest as they say is history.
